A former Monessen man, Claude Vinson,was burned to death ealry Thursday,July 19,1962,when the truck he was driving went our of control and crashed into a stone wall in Braddock Hills. Mr. Vinson, 36,was a resident of 6114 Dean St., East Liberty,Pittsburgh. He was born in Monessen,moving from the community about 15 years ago. Police said the truck was traveling in Braddock Hills when the brakes failed. Bystanders told police they heard the driver call for help. The truck burst into flames. Because of the intense heat,bystanders were unable to help the dirver. Mr. Vinson worked for the Hale Trucking Co., Braddck Hills. He was a member of the Union Baptist Church of Monessen. He is survived by a step-daughter,Lovely Ann Burton of Monessen,his father,Claude Vinson,Sr.,and step-mother,Mrs. Fannie Vinson of Monessen and a grandmother, Mrs. Lulla Jennings also of Monessen. Friends are being received at the DuBois Carter Funeral Home,Monessen,after 5 p.m.Friday. Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Union Baptist Church,Monessen,with the Rev. Phillp Green officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. DuBois Carter,funeral director.
