Obituary

Clifford Litterini, 79, of Monessen, died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, in the emergency room at Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc. He was born in Smithton on Sept. 5, 1926, a son of the late Rudolph and Margaret Backus Litterini. He was a resident of Monessen for over 50 years and a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church. Mr. Litterini also was a member of the Italian Society of Mutual Aid in Monessen, and past member and treasurer of the Marconi Social Club in Smithton. He worked over 50 years as a delivery route driver for Angelo's Cigarette Service in Smithton, retiring in 1995. Mr. Litterini was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS H.W. Tucker. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, James C. and Lynne Litterini, of River Edge, N.J., his daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and Todd Chester, of Monessen, with whom he made his home, a brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence and Eunice Litterini, of Virginia Beach, Va., three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Doris and John Wichtoski of Lansing, Mich., Norma Penfield, and Carol and Maynard Munson, all of Tucson, Ariz., two grandchildren, Zachary Chester and Cameron Litterini, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Merando Litterini, and three brothers, Lewis, James and Donald Litterini. Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 441 Reed Ave., Monessen (724-684-8750). Services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 8, beginning with a 9:30 a.m. Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord R.C. Church. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
