Obituary

Clifford Steer,74,of 540 Graham St.,Belle Vernon,died Thursday,Nov.5,1987,at 8 a.m.at his home. Mr.Steer was born March 9,1913,in Washington Township,a son of the late William H.and Angelina Straffard Steer. A lifelong resident of the Belle Vernon and Monessen areas,he was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon. Mr.Steer retired in 1976 from the Allenport Plant of the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife,Vera,who died March 1,1971,a sister,Hester Sowden,and by three brothers,Thomas,Harry and William Steer. Survivors inlcude his wife,Elmira Luce Steer,three sons,Clifford (Corky) Steer of San Jose,Calif.,Norman Luce of West Chester,Ohio,and Barry Luce of Lake Mills,Wis.,two daughters,Mrs.Alex (Novella Poochie ) Crank of San Antonio,Texas,and Mrs.Louis (Bonnie) Hegedus of Chambersburg,a sister,Margaret Harris of McKees Rocks,14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where services will be held Saturday,Nov.7,at 1 p.m.with the Rev.Dr.Thomas St.Clair,pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon,officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Shelby D.Ferguson,funeral director,is in charge of arrangements.
