Clarence Wendell Nichols,63,of Fayette City died suddenly on Friday, June 30,1989,at 5:30 p.m. in Mon Valley Hospital. He was born in Belle Vernon on June 11,1926,a son of the late Isiah and Ruth (Peart) Nichols. Mr. Nichols was also preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Nichols in 1949. He was Protestant by faith,served in World War II for the United States Navy and was a self-employed carpenter. Mr. Nichols is survived by his wife, Laura English Nichols of Fayete City,four sons, Robert W. of Abany, Ga.,Larry Allen of Lakeland, Fla.,James W. of Atlanta,Ga.,and John of Fayette City,two daughters,Mrs. Aland (Phyllis) Gray of Belle Vernon and Janet Nichols, at home,one brother, John Nichols of Perryopolis, three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Miller of Belle Vernon,Mrs. Jean Stewart of Ambridge and Mrs. Rudolph (Sara) Duda of Belle Vernon and nine grandchildren. Friends will be received Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 12 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Howard W. McCrory Funeral Home, Fayette City. Visitation will also be held on Monday until 11 a.m. when services will be held in the funeral home with Rev. Wayne Boring,pastor of Fayette City Christian Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Howard W. McCrory Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
