Obituary

Clarence E.(Peanuts) Atkins,73,of 427 Fell St.,Belle Vernon,died Friday,Jan.2,1976.at 9:42 p.m.in Charleroi Division of Mon Valley Hospital following a short illness. Mr.Atkins,a retired employee of the former McCraffery Pontiac Garage in Charleroi,was admitted to the hospital Jan.1. He was preceded in death by his wife,Evelyn Summerville Atkins,on July 4,1969,and by a sister,Virginia Atkins. Mrs.Atkins was born in Glassport on March 29,1904,a son of the late Henry C.and Mary J.Atkins and had spent his childhood in Monessen. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon and a former member of the International Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) and the Belle Vernon Volunteer Fire Co. He is survived by two daughters,Mrs.Gordon (Connie Lou) Bethem of Belle Vernon and Mrs.Gary (Joyce) Dull,at home,one son,Gale T.Atkins,at home,nine grandchildren,one sister,Mrs.Lillian Pattron of Aliquippa,and one brother,Dale Atkins of Pittsburgh. Friends will be received in the Gerald R.Essey Funeral Home in Belle Vernon from 7 until 9 p.m.on Saturday,Jan3,1976 and from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m.on Sunday,Jan.4,1976,where funeral services will be held on Monday,Jan.5,1976 at 11 a.m.with the Rev.R.Dawson Hopson,pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon,officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. David P.Rhome,temporary supervisor,in charge.
