Clarence E.Burleigh;49;a veteran employee of The Valley Independent;was found dead of a heart attack Wednesday;March 21;1962;at his home at 607 Marguerite St.in Monessen. He was found by Monessen police who had received a call from his sister;Mrs.Obed (Beatrice) Macer;who stated she had last seen her brother Saturday afternoon. He was a bachelor. Westmoreland County Coroner Stephen D.Yoney;Monessen;pronounced Mr.Burleigh dead at 9:40 this morning. Yoney said he believed death had occurred about 24 hours earlier. Mr.Burleigh;who was born May 3;1913;had been associated with The Independent as a custodian for 32 years. During World War II;he served with the Army Transportation Corps in the European Theatre of Operations. Besides his sister;he is survived by a brother;Dr.Elmer Burleigh of New York. Friends are being received at the Beverly C.Draper Funeral Home in Monessen between hours of 1 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. Funeral services will take place Saturday;March 24;at 11 a.m.in the Wayman A.M.E.Church;Monessen;with the Dr.H.L.Anderson;pastor;officiating.
