Obituary

Clarence Crawley,638 Reed Ave.,Monessen,died Wednesday,Nov.11,1981 in Mon Valley Hospital following an extended illness. He was 87. Born Sept.18,1894 in Gladys,Va.,a son of the late Samuel and Fannie Crawley. Mr.Crawley was a retired employee of the Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corp.,Monessen Plant. He was a veteran of the U.S.Army,having served overseas in France during World War I. Mr.Crawley was a member of the Union Baptist Church for 60 years. Survivors include his wife of 64 years,Mary Ethel Crawley,four sons,Manuel of Washington,D.C.,Samuel of Vanderbilt,Albert at home and Harry of Philadelphia,three daughters,Frances Carter of Aliquippa,Fannie M.Burroughs and Constance Crawley,both of Monessen,12 grandchildren,11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson,one brother,Carl Crawley of Monessen,two sisters,Mrs.Lockie Lovelace of Gladys,Va.and Mrs. Minnie Brown of Brooklyn.N.Y.and a host of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the Union Baptist Church,McMahon Ave.,Monessen,on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the church on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev.Timothy Combs,pastor,officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Duboise R.Carter Funeral Home,215 Fourth St.,Aliquippa,is in charge of arrangements.
