Obituary

Clara Wendell Forbeck,87,formerly of Speer Street,Belle Vernon,died Sunday,Dec.15,1996,at 8:44 a.m.in Mon Valley Hospital. Born Nov.28,1909,in Verona,she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Pearl Wurzell Wendell. A resident of the Belle Vernon community since 1957,Mrs.Forbeck was a member of St.Sebastian Roman Catholic Church. She was a community and civic leader who spearheaded the Avenue of Flags project in North Belle Vernon. She was a member of and held offices in many organizations,including the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Belle Vernon Court 1522,the Ladies Auxiliary of Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus Council 3026,Women's Club of Belle Vernon,Belle Vernon Area Church Women and the Belle Vernon Golden Age Assembly. She was an auxiliary member of the Legion of Mary of St.Sebastian Church. In addition to her parents,she was preceded in death by a brother,William Wendell,a son,Joseph F.Forbeck,on May 21,1993,and a daughter,Patricia Capponi,on Sept.16,1994. Surviving are her husband,Eugene L.Forbeck,one son,Lawrence G. Butch Forbeck of Belle Vernon,two daughters,Sr.Eugenia Forbeck,School Sisters of Notre Dame,of Belle Vernon,and Mrs.Paul (Mary Gene) Delsandro of Carroll Township,one sister,Margaret Pavlicek of Verona,12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Monday from 7 to p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home,626 Broad Ave.,Belle vernon. A prayer service will be held Wednesday at 9:15 a.m.in the funeral home,followed by Funeral Mass at 10 a.m.in the St.Sebastian Roman Catholic Church,Belle Vernon,with the Rev.John R.Cindric,V.F.,pastor,as celebrant. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Members of the North Belle Vernon Volunteer Fire Department will meet at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Monday to pay respects to Mrs.Forbeck,who is the mother of brother firefighter Lawrence G. Butch Forbeck. Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus Council 3026 will conduct services Monday at 8 p.m.in the funeral home. The Legion of Mary of St.Sebastian Church and Catholic Daughters of the Americas Belle Vernon Court 1522 will recite the Rosary in the funeral home at 3 p.m.Tuesday. The family suggests memorial contributions be made in Mrs.Forbeck's name to the Avenue of Flags project,c/o the North Belle Vernon Volunteer Fire Department or through the funeral home. Arrangements are being handled by the Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home.
