Obituary

Mrs.Clara Jane Rowley,aged 75 years,wife of Harry Rowley,died at the family home No.3 Graham Street,Belle Vernon at 6:45 p.m.,Wednesday,November 27,1940. She had been ill over a long period. Mrs. Roley was born November 25,1865,a daughter of Nathan and Mary Jane Worrell,who were among the first settlers in East Belle Vernon.  On November 29,1890,she married Mr. Harry E. Roley.  The couple planned to celebrate their 60th anniversary next month.  Mrs. Rowley had resided in Belle Vernon ever since she and her husband set up housekeeping there forty-nine years ago. She was an active member of the First Christian Church of Belle Vernon and a charter member of the Pocahontas and P.O.of A. lodges.  Surviving besides her husband are two daughters,Gertrude at home and Mrs.Homer Whetzel of Ford City,one brother,William Worrell,of Hazelhurst,PA.,and one sister,Mrs.Catherine Martin,of Belle Vernon,two grandchildren,Mrs. Vera Jenkins,of Grafton,W.VA. and Edith Whetzel,of Ford City  and one great-grandchild,Marilyn Mae Jenkins. Remains are at the home where services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock by the Rev.James Rainey,pastor of First Christian church. Interment will follow in Gibsonton cemetery. Chas.L.Melenyzer is the funeral director in charge. (She was moved to Belle Vernon Cemetery on 12/4/1941)
