Obituary

Christopher Shawn Bissett, 22, of Perryopolis, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born Sept. 5, 1985, in Monongahela, the son of Robert and A. Kimberly Miller Bissett, who survive and reside in Perryopolis. Chris graduated from Frazier High School in 2003 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in August 2003. He was stationed out of Norfolk, Va., and serving as a small arms instructor aboard the USS Harry S. Truman, an aircraft carrier. Chris received the Top Gun Award for Excellent Marksmanship. During his four years in the Navy, he served in the Persian Gulf during Operation Iraqi Freedom. In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Jamie Bissett, at home, his maternal grandmother, Evelyn Miller, of Beallsville, his paternal grandparents, Hubert and Mary Louise Bissett, of Waynesburg, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, William Miller. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Visitation will be held in the BLAIR-LOWTHER FUNERAL HOME INC., 106 East Independence St., Perryopolis (724-736-4424), on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Saturday until 11 a.m., the hour of service with the Rev. Mike Malone officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: First Christian Church, Perryopolis, Pa. 15473.
