Charles S. (Sam) VanDivner, 73,of 402 Grant St.,Belle Vernon died Thursday,Oct.14,1971 at 5 p.m. in Charleroi-Monessen Hospital. Born in LowerTyrone on May 2, 1898 he was a former employee of the P. and L. E. Railroad, where he had been a carpenter foreman until his retirement on July 15, 1963. He was treasurer of the Belle Vernon Musical Society. Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Stacey VanDivner; one son,James of Revere; two brothers,James of Belle Vernon and Miles of Deep Creek, Md.,and three sisters, Mrs. Ida Shumar and Mrs. Alice Veach of E. Millsboro, and Mrs. Ruth Pike of Uldie. Friends will be received after 7 p.m. Saturday at the Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where visiting hours are 1 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. Services will be held Monday,Oct.18 at 1 p.m.at the funeral home,with the Rev. Charles Colas,pastor of First Baptist Church of Belle Vernon,officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Shelby D.Ferguson,funeral director in charge.
