Monessen police reported that Charles R. (Booker) Thomas,61,of 1558 Schoonmaker Ave.,Monessen was found dead in bed at his home Thursday, Dec. 23,1965. James (Goldie) Jones, 1430 Schoonmaker Ave.,told police that he went to the Thomas home to visit and found the deceased. Westmoreland County Coroner Stephen Yoney was notified and said Mr. Thomas had died of natural causes. Born in Baltimore,Md.,Sept. 21,1904,he had lived in Monessen 42 years. Mr. Thomas worked in the open hearth department of the Monessen plant of Pittsburgh Steel Co. He has no known survivors. Friends will be received at the Beverly C. Draper Funeral Home,Monessen,after 7 p.m. Dec. 24. Service in the funeral home chapel Monday,Dec. 27,at 11 a.m. in charge of the Rev. R. A. Lattimer,pastor of Wayman A.M.E. Church, Monessen. Interment in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Beverly C. Draper,funeral director.
