Obituary

Charles R. (Jack) Tennant of Elizabeth Township died Thursday,June 4,1987,in Jefferson Hospital,Jefferson Borough. He was 67. He was a past president of the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Company. Mr.Tennant was born Dec.3,1919,in Waynesburg,a son of the late Charles and Estella Braden Tennant. He was a retired mechanic with Fisher Body in West Mifflin. Mr.Tennant was a U.S.Army veteran of World War II,having served with the 34th Infantry Division. He was a member of the Brightwell-Daugherty American Legion Post No.484,Fayette City,the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No.7812,West Newton,and the First Presbyterian Church of Brownsville. Surviving are his wife,Betty Lightner Tennant,one daughter,Helen Lee Book,of Belle Vernon,one son,Charles R.Tennant Jr.of Buena Vista,five grandchildren,two brothers,Clarence Tennant of Ruskin,Fla.,and Donald Ray Tennant of Villa Park,Ill.,and two sisters,DeEtta Tennant of Prosperty,Pa.and Donnis Mae Hupp of Addison,Ill. Two brothers,Glenn and Everett G.Tennant,are deceased. Friends will be received Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Ralph L.Johnson Funeral Home,Buena Vista. Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m.in the funeral home,with the Rev.Rich Minnich,pastor,Roundhill Presbyterian Church,Elizabeth Township,officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery,Belle Vernon. The Ralph L.Johsnon Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
