Charles R. Higgins,73,of Charleroi,died Tuesday,Sept. 10,1991,in Mon Valley Hospital,Carroll Township. Born Sept. 9,1918,in Charleroi,he was the son of the late David Frederick and Nora Mae Mulhearn Higgins. Mr. Higgins was a member of St. Jerome Roman Catholic Church,Charleroi. He was a former member of the Belle Vernon Lions Club,Rotary Club and American Legion. He served with the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II and was the retired owner/operator of the Ohio Furniture Company stores in Belle Vernon and Charleroi. In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by eight brothers and one sister. Surviving are his wife, Georgetta Burke Higgins; a son and daughter-in-law,Chuck and Bonnie Higgins; a daughter and son-in-law,Nancy and Bob Wallace; four grandchildren,Burke and Breanna Wallace and Kellie and Charles Higgins III, and a brother, Jack Higgins of Charleroi. Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home Inc.,226 Fallowfield Ave.,Charleroi. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Jerome Roman Catholic Church,Charleroi,followed by interment in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home Inc.
