Obituary

Charles P. Evans,aged 70 years,died Sunday, July 30,1944,at 8:15 p.m.,at his home,223 Manown street,following a lingering illness. He had resided in Monessen for the past 20 years,having been engaged as a lumber contractor.  Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Julia Parsons Evans,five sons, Albert of Belle Vernon,Howard and Harold of Monessen,Frank of Riverview and Phillip,with the Army in England;one daughter,Mabel at home;a brother, George E. Evans,and a sister, Mrs. Mary Thurer,both of Pittsburgh.  Nine grandchildren also survive. Friends are being received at the Woodward Home for Funerals,where services will be held Wednesday,August 2 at 1 o'clock,with Rev. John E. Fosnight,of the Baptist Church, officiating.  Interment,Belle Vernon Cemetery.  Dave H. Woodward,funeral director in charge.
