Charles T. ‘Oats’ Kyle, 78, of Belle Vernon, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at the Residence at Hilltop. A son of the late Robert P. and Isabelle L. (Smith) Kyle, he was born in N. Charleroi on September 23, 1946.
A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, Charles was a member of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 and the VFW Post 699. Charles was a United States Army Veteran, serving in Vietnam. He had been employed by U.S. Steel, Irvin Works, for 34 years, until his retirement in 2003. In his younger years, Charles was a former coach, coaching bronco, pony, and colts baseball teams, Lynnwood and Fayette City football, and youth basketball. Charles will also be remembered as a regular at the local Just A Tavern.
He is survived by his cousin, Michelle Usher-Durka and her husband, Jake Durka, of Charleroi and their children, Nicholas Usher with whom he resided with for several years in Rostraver Twp., Owen Durka and Addacie Durka, both of Charleroi. Charles is also survived by two great friends, Vance Bunardzya of Rostraver Twp. and David Neal of West Mifflin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert J. ‘Hootie’ Kyle in 1985 and his close friend, Earl Dunkerly.
Friends will be received on Friday from 2 to 4 P.M. and 7 to 9 P.M. in the Ferguson Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 700 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon. 724-929-5300. www.FergusonFuneralHomeandCrematory.com.
