C.Leonard (Red) Hotchkiss of 307 Sixth St, Monessen, died at 6:22 a.m.Saturday,Dec. 30,1978 in Mon Valley Hospital following a lingering illness. He was 74. Born in Washingtonville, Ohio on Aug. 4, 1904, he had been a resident of Monessen since 1912. He had been employed by Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel in Monessen as a stockyard foreman on the open hearth floor until his retirement in 1962. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Monessen and was also a social member in many Monessen clubs. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Riskey Hotchkiss on Jan. 15, 1978 and a son-in-law Marko Povich on April 24,1978. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Andrew (Anita) Dzatko and Mrs Rebecca Povich both of Monessen; 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Douglas Hotchkiss of Lorain, Ohio. Friends will be received in the Rhome Funeral Home, Inc., 1209 Grand Blvd., Monessen, on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be on Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Frank A. Bodnar,Pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Charleroi officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Rhome Funeral Directors in charge.
