Charles Hogan O’Brien;75;of Brownstown;Fayette City R.D.1;died Tuesday;Jan.21;1992;in Mon Valley Hospital;Carroll Township. He was born April 30;1916;in Fayette City;a son of the late James and Fannie Livingstone O’Brien. A U.S.Air Force veteran of World War II;Mr.O’Brien was retired from the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.;Allenport plant. He was a member of the First Christian Church;Brightwell-Daugherty American Legion Post 484 and Gummert Lodge 252 F&AM;all of Fayette City. Survivors include his wife;Thelma Braithwood O’Brien;one sister;Elizabeth Speck of Pittsburgh;and several nephews and nieces;including Janice Boullon of Belle Vernon and Sandy Solomon of Elizabeth. In addition to his parents;he was preceded in death by one sister;Mary Susan Vandernette;and one niece;Leigh Ann Boulton. Friends will be received after 7 p.m.Wednesday and will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home;Fayette City;where services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m.with the Revs. Wayne Boring of First Christian Church;Fayette City;and Jack Elder of Fayette City United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. American Legion Post 484 will hold a service Wednesday evening at 7 p.m.in the funeral home. A masonic service will be held in the funeral home Thursday at 7 p.m.
