Obituary

Charles E. Salizzoni Jr., 91, formerly of Monessen, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015, in Excela Health, Westmoreland Hospital. He was born in Smithton on Jan. 26, 1924, the son of the late Carlo and Mary Orlandi Salizzoni. Charlie was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church and the former St. Leonard's Roman Catholic Church. He was an active member of both church's and enjoyed help out in the kitchen. He was also a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Charlie was retired from General Motors, having worked for 33 years as a sewing machine repairman. He was a veteran of Worl War II, having served with the U.S. Army in Southern France, Rhineland and Central Europe with Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 47th Infantry. He is survived by two sisters, Gloria Robinson of Fairfield, Ohio, and Irene Salizzoni of Greensburg; two nieces, Clara Robinson of Los Angeles, Calif., and Debbie Babilya of West Newton; and two nephews, William Robinson of Los Angeles, Calif., and Norman Santori of Kittanning. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Salizzoni; and a sister, Clara Santori. Friends will be received in the DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC. AND CREMATION SERVICES, 441 Reed Ave., Monessen, on Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. Services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, beginning with a 9:30 a.m. blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord Church.
