Obituary

Charles D.Mackey of Fayette City,R.D.1,died Friday.Aug.2,1985,at 7:45 p.m. in Mercy Hospital,Pittsburgh. He was 63. Mr.Mackey was born May 8,1922,in Monessen,a son of the late Herbert and Lois Kearns Mackey. He retired,in 1983,from employment in the Chipping Department of the Monessen Works of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. He had lived in the Fayette City area the past 20 years. Mr.Mackey was a U.S.Army veteran of World War II,having served with the 208th Medical Hospital Ship Platoon. He was preceded in death by one brother,William Mackey. Surviving are his wife,Connie DeRentis Mackey,one daughter,Mrs.Margaret L.Hill,of Monessen,three grandchildren,Vincent D.Tartt and Tracie L.Tartt,both of San Jose,Calif.,and Eurainia Merritt of Monessen,one great-grandson,Matthew David Tartt,of San Jose,Calif.,three brothers,Richard and Russell Mackey,both of Webster and Vern Mackey of Berwick,Pa.,three sisters,Mrs.Eugene (Audrey) Muia and Mrs.Fred (Shirley) Rook,both of Webster,and Mrs.Albert (Lavina) Gagliardi of Monongahela,and a dear friend,Steven C.Henderson,of Monessen. Friends will be received in the Raymond D.Dalfonso Funeral Home,441 Reed Ave.,Monessen,Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home,with the Rev.John Derrice Jr.of the Christian Center,Belle Vernon,officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Raymond D.Dalfonso Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
