Charles D.Steele;72;of 30 Knox Ave.;Monessen;died Tuesday;June 27;1972;at 5:30 p.m.in Charleroi-Monessen Hospital. He was born in Saxton;Pa.;Nov.25;1899. He came to Monessen in 1919. He was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel’s Monessen Plant where he was superintendent of the blast furnace department. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Monessen and of several Masonic fraternal organizations. He was a member of the Executive Committee of Boy Scouts of America. Surviving are his widow;Iva Hollinger Steele;two daughters;Mrs.William (Barbara) McLaren of Massillon;Ohio;and Mrs.John (Doris) McClain of Belle Vernon R.D.;three grandchildren and one great-grandchild;and one sister;Mrs.Calvin (Ida) Harvey of Saxton;Pa. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Edwin Melenyzer Funeral Home;Monessen;where a Masonic funeral service will be held Thursdy at 8 p.m. and a funeral service will be held Friday;June 30;at 11 a.m. with the Rev.Joseph C.Rial Jr.;pastor of the First United Methodist Church;officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Edwin Melenyzer;funeral director. In lieu of flowers;donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
