Obituary

Charles D.Steele,72,of 30 Knox Ave.,Monessen,died Tuesday,June 27,1972,at 5:30 p.m.in Charleroi-Monessen Hospital. He was born in Saxton,Pa.,Nov.25,1899. He came to Monessen in 1919. He was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel's Monessen Plant where he was superintendent of the blast furnace department. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Monessen and of several Masonic fraternal organizations. He was a member of the Executive Committee of Boy Scouts of America. Surviving are his widow,Iva Hollinger Steele,two daughters,Mrs.William (Barbara) McLaren of Massillon,Ohio,and Mrs.John (Doris) McClain of Belle Vernon R.D.,three grandchildren and one great-grandchild,and one sister,Mrs.Calvin (Ida) Harvey of Saxton,Pa. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Edwin Melenyzer Funeral Home,Monessen,where a Masonic funeral service will be held Thursdy at 8 p.m. and a funeral service will be held Friday,June 30,at 11 a.m. with the Rev.Joseph C.Rial Jr.,pastor of the First United Methodist Church,officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Edwin Melenyzer,funeral director. In lieu of flowers,donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
