Charles Oliphant Sr.;56;of 107 Speer St.;Speers;was killed in a one car accident at 8:15 p.m.Wednesday;Feb.24;1965;on Interstate Route 70 on the Belle Vernon end of the Belle Vernon-Speers bridge in Westmoreland County. A coal miner;Mr.Oliphant was born Nov.14;1909;in Washington Twp.(Fayette County);the son of the late Joseph and Anna Lynch Oliphant. He is survived by his widow;Ellen Burgan Oliphant;two sons;Charles J.of Roscoe;and Larry of Cleveland;Ohio;a daughter;Mrs.Lorraine Vercoe;also of Roscoe;two brothers;Christopher of Fayette City and Joseph of Waynesburg;three sisters;Mrs.Mae Mitchell of Fairhope;Mrs.Violet Mastronicola of Charleroi; Mrs.Agnes Connors of Marin Villa;Fairhope and four grandchildren. Friends are being received at the Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home;Fayette City;where a service will take place Saturday;Feb.27;at 2 p.m.in charge of the Rev.Wendall Paul;pastor of Roscoe Methodist Church.
