Obituary

Charles Bezego Jr., 76, of Fayette City R.D. 1 (Brownstown), died Sunday, April 21, 1996, at home after a short illness. He was born in Fayette City Dec. 23, 1919, a son of the late Charles Sr. and Mary Oneufer Bezego. Mr. Bezego was a member of the Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church of Belle Vernon. A retired steel mill worker, he had worked in the Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Company at the Alleriport Plant. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the 18th Infantry 45th Division as sergeant. He served in AlgeriaFrench Morocco, Tunisia, Sicily and took part in the invasion at Normandy where he received the bronze star and the purple heart for his wounds. Surviving are his wife, Catherine Arrow Bezego, three sons, Charles J Bezego of Hopwood, John R. Bezego of Garden Grove, Calif., and William J. Bezego of Penn Hills, and two sisters, Mrs. Frank (Helen) Kostelac of Fairhope, Belle Vernon, and Mrs. John (Anna) Simmons of Fayette City R.D. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Komacko. Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Howard W. McCrory Funeral Home,Fayette City. Friends and relatives will meet at the Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church,Belle Vernon,on Wednesday,where a Divine Liturgy will be held at 10 a.m.with the Rev.Father John J.Kluchko as celebrant. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery,Belle Vernon. A Parastas service will be held Tuesday in the funeral home at 8 p.m. The Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
