Charles B. McVay of 142 Lynnwood Ave.,Belle Vernon died Monday,April 24,1961,at 1:45 a.m. in Charleroi-Monessen Hospital. He had been in declining health. Born in Mingo Junction,he came to Monessen in 1904. He was employed as a millwright in the Monessen plant of the Pittsburgh Steel Co.until his retirement in 1952. He was oldest active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Monessen. A son,Wayne,preceded his father in death. He was killed in action in France in 1944 during World War II. Survivors include his wife,Bertha Kraft;three daughters,Mrs. Frank (Mary) McIIravy, Lemont Furnace,Mrs. Paul (Lois) Yeaton,Monessen,Mrs. Thomas (Amelia) Crawford Jr.,Perryopolis;two sons,Joseph,Okmulgee,Okla.,J. Lee,Belle Vernon;a brother,Wilson McVay,Jeannette,eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Friends are bieng received at the Rhome Funeral Home,Monessen,where services will be held Wednesday,April 26,at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Willis A. Hacker of the First Presbyterain Church,Monessen,will be assisted by the Rev. Lester A. Crum of Evangelical United Brethren Church,Monessen. Interment will follow in Bellle Vernon Cemetery.
