Charles Ambrose,89,of Autumn Arbor Estates, Monongahela,formerly of North Belle Vernon,died Wednesday, Dec. 11,1996,in Mon Valley Hospital, Carroll Township. Born June 12,1907, in Calabria,Italy,he was a son of the late Fidel and Teresa Domiano Ambrose. A lifelong resident of North Belle Vernon,he was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church of Belle Vernon and the Fayette Beagle Club. Mr. Ambrose had been employed at the former American Window Glass Company of Belle Vernon. He retired in 1972 from Irvin Works of the U.S. Steel Corp.,where he was a crane operator. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife,Edith Vizza Ambrose,on June 6,1996; a son, Fidel Ambrose on Feb. 5,1988; two sisters, Josephine Mendicino and Rose Wiegle and three brothers, Vincenzo, Joseph and Fred Ambrose. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Albert (BettyJean ) Vargo of Belle Vernon and Mrs.Jack (Marlerne) France of Charleroi; one sister, Catherine Ambrose Vaccaro of Monessen; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home Inv.,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where a Prayer service will be held Saturday at 12:30 p.m.,followed by Funeral Mass at 1 p.m. in St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church,Belle Vernon with the Rev. John Cindric as celebrant. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Legion of Mary will recite the Rosary Friday at 3 p.m. in the funeral home.
