Charles Alessio; 71; of Rostraver Township; died Friday; April 25; 2008; in Jefferson Regional Medical Center. A son of the late Domenick and Kathryn Skibo Alessio; he was born in Belle Vernon on Jan. 25; 1937. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon; he was a member of the Church of St. Anne of Rostraver Township; the East Belle Vernon Athletic Club; the Puritan Golf League; both the Pennsylvania State and National Education Associations and a life member of the NRA. Chuck served in the Air Force from 1954 to 1958; graduated from California State Teachers College in 1961; and received his master’s degree from West Virginia University in 1963. He served on the Belle Vernon Area School District Board of Education from 1979 to 1987; serving as president in 1982; 1984 and 1985. Chuck taught for the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit 7 in Greensburg and was a holder of American Speech and Hearing Certificate of Clinical Competence. Survivors include his wife of 40 years; Kathleen Kay Klein Alessio; three sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law; Eileen and Bob Nagy; of Roscoe; Jay and Joan Klein; of Townville; S.C.; and Larry and Linda Klein; of Coatesville; an aunt; Jenny Alessio; of Belle Vernon; and many nieces and nephews.
