Catherine B.Gidick;75;of 529 Schoonmaker Ave.;Monessen;died suddenly at 11:07 a.m. Sunday;Jan.22;1989;in her home. Mrs.Gidick was born Nov.28;1913;in Manhattan;N.Y.;a daughter of the late John Vargo and Barbara Galambos Vargo. She had been a Monessen resident since 1960. Mrs.Gidick was a member of St.Leonard Roman Catholic Church and the Polish National Alliance Branch No.2213;both of Monessen. Her husband;Charles Gidick;died in 1958. Two brothers;Frank and William Vargo;and three sisters;Irene McGarvey;Elizabeth Horn and Martha Loder;are also deceased. Surviving are one son;Kenneth Gidick of Monessen (with whom she made her home);four sisters;Mrs.August (Theresa) Stinner;Yoland Shelly and Helen Petrulli.all of McKeesport;and Mrs.Alex (Margaret) Holovich of Levittown;two brothers;Stephen Vargo Sr.and Julius Vargo;both of McKeesport;and 13 nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Stephen D.Yoney Jr.Funeral Home;First Street and Schoonmaker Avenue;Monessen; A Blessing Service will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home;followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St.Leonard Roman Catholic Church;Monessen;with the Rev.John Euker;pastor;as celebrant. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Stephen D.Yoney Jr.Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
