Obituary

Carl J.Skibo,96,the oldest resident of Fayette City,died Thursday,March 12,1998,in Mead Manor,Monongahela after a very short illness. Born July 22,1901,in Roscoe,he was retired from the Allenport plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel after 48 years of service. He was Catholic by faith. He was a member of the Fayette City and Belle Vernon Golden Age clubs. The last remaining member of his immediate family,Mr.Skibo was preceded in death by his wife,Naomi Sharrer Skibo,who died Oct.14,1987. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law,Priscilla and Robert Pelissero of Monongahela and Peggy and George Lynn of Murrysville,three sons and daughters-in-law,Carl Bernard and Millie Skibo of Fayette City,James and Colleen Skibo of Hilton Head,S.C.,and Charles and Nickey Skibo of North Carolina,14 grandchildren,15 great-grandchildren,and three great-great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.and Monday until 9:30 a.m.in the Eley/McCrory Funeral Home,Inc.Fayette City. A prayer service will be held in the funeral home Monday at 9:30 a.m.,followed by Funeral Mass at 10 a.m.in Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church,Fayette City,with the Rev.Leonard McAlpin as celebrant. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Eley/McCrory Funeral Home Inc.
