Obituary

Calogero "Carlos" Campieri, 68, of Belle Vernon, died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2015. Born on Oct. 27, 1946, in Palermo, Sicily, Italy, he was the son of the late Antonino Campieri and Maria Cippola Campieri, who survives, of Palermo. Catholic by faith, he was a retired truck driver for the Allenport Steel Mill, former owner of Carl's Fine Food Restaurant in Charleroi and construction foreman for General Industries. In 2013 he opened the Belle Vernon Fitness Center with his grandson, Kodey, and was very proud that it became a great success. He loved playing poker at the Meadow's, cooking meatballs and sauce, was a corner man for professional boxing, and was very proud of becoming a U.S. citizen. He is survived by the love of his life, Bonnie Lambert of Belle Vernon; sons, Antonio Campieri of Charleroi, and Sam Campieri of Monongahela; daughter, Maria Campieri of Belle Vernon; stepdaughters, Jody Bailey-Campieri of Belle Vernon and Darla Bailey-Suomela of Monessen; stepson, Scott Bailey of Elizabeth; aunt, Lucia Brambilla of Florida; grandchildren, Anthony, Alyssa and Samantha Campieri, Kristen Battistone, Harley Bailey, and Kodey Suomela; and great-granddaughter, Brenley Farner. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by a granddaughter, Johnalynn Antoinette Campieri. Friends will be received 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015, in the CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME, 819 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, Joseph A. Lopez, funeral director. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, in St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, Belle Vernon, celebrated by Rev. Msgr. Roger A. Statnick, with entombment following in Belle Vernon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Sebastian Regional School, 815 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, PA 15012.
