Bonny A. Lancaster Varega; 73; of Carroll Township; formerly of Broad Avenue; North Belle Vernon; died Tuesday; Jan. 8; 2002; at 8:51 a.m. in Mon Valley Hospital; Carroll Township. Born Jan. 4; 1929; in Gibsonton; she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Winnifred James Lancaster. Mrs. Varega was a resident of Monongahela for the past five years; having previously resided in North Belle Vernon for 42 years. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Monessen. Mrs. Varega was retired from the Belle Vernon Area School District; where she worked as a cafeteria cook and was a member and past president of the former Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law; John Thomas Jack and Aldaleah Varega of Perryopolis; two daughters and sons-in-law; Gwen and Ronald Halkias of Brandon; Fla.; and Beverly and Michael Tokar of Carroll Township; one brother; Thomas Lancaster; and two sisters; Beverly Mitchell and Ardyth Rowe; all of Gibsonton; four grandchildren; Shawn Varega of Hollywood; Calif.; and Rhiannon; Michael and Malory Tokar; all of Carroll Township. She was preceded in death by her husband; John F. Varega; on March 13; 1983. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME; family owned and operated; 626 Broad Ave.; Belle Vernon. Services will be held Friday at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Scott Koeppen of First Baptist Church; Monessen; and the Rev. Dr. Allen Lee of Washington; Pa.; officiating. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
