Obituary

Betty Margaret Lazzari, 89, formerly of Belle Vernon, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at the Hallsworth House, Monessen. Born in Belle Vernon on Sept. 12, 1924, the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Thieser Bell, she was a lifelong resident of Belle Vernon. Though her passing brought much sadness, comfort is found in the fact that, having traveled the world with her husband of 66 years, Betty has gone to her eternal home and is now comfortably resting in the arms of her Lord and Savior. Retiring in 1981 as a teacher with the California School District, Betty devoted countless hours volunteering with the MVH Ladies Auxiliary, the Belle Vernon Public Library and the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon. Often called Smiley by the wonderful caregivers and hospice workers at Hallsworth House, Betty will be fondly remembered by her family and friends for her amazing love, selfless giving, and the many beautiful memories she has left behind. Betty is survived by her loving husband, Lloyd, daughter, Cindy of Prescott, Ariz., a son, Robert, and his wife, Marcy, of Burlington, N.C., and two grandchildren, Kristina and Robbie, both of Wilmington, N.C. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 724-929-5300, 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, ,http://www.FergusonFuneralHomeAndCrematory.com. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday in the funeral home, with the Rev. Suzanne Currie officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to ViaQuest Hospice, 610 Park Ave., Monongahela, PA 15063.
