Betty L.Tennant;71;of Elizabeth Township;died Wednesday;Feb.8;1995;in Jefferson Hospital. Born Feb.6;1924;in Waynesburg;she was a daughter of the late Charles and Helen Lippencott Lightner. Mrs.Tennant was Protestant by faith. She was a former member and past president of the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Formerly of Washington Township;Mrs.Tennant had lived in Elizabeth Township the past 27 years. She had been employed at the former Sadowski’s Market and S&Y Foodland in Rostraver Township. In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband;Charles R.Tennant Sr.;who died June 4;1987. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law;Charles Jr. and Eileen Tennant of Elizabeth Township;a daughter and son-in-law;Helen Lee and Louis Book of Belle Vernon;five grandchildren;Louis Alan Book;Lou Ann Clayton;Cindy Kossar;Scott Tennant and Brandi Tennant;and two great-grandchildren;Alan Michael Book and Jesse Clayton. Friends will be received Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.;700 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon;where services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m.with the Rev.Richard C.Klein;pastor of Rehoboth Presbyterian Church;officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Ferguson Funeral home Inc.is in charge of arrangements.
