Betty Jane West; 90; of Belle Vernon; died Monday; March 5; 2007; at the West family home in Belle Vernon. She was born Dec. 22; 1916; in Homestead; moving to Allenport and then to Belle Vernon when she was a child. Betty graduated from Belle Vernon High School at the top of her class in 1932. She attended a local business college and then went to work for her lifetime employer; Pittsburgh Steel. She worked in Monessen and Allenport for 47 years; retiring in 1982. In retirement she traveled extensively. In her later years she taught young people to read as part of a successful mentoring program. Betty also continued her collecting hobbies while she continued her lifetime involvement with her church family at the First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon. Betty loved and supported all things in nature while sustaining a backyard bird feeding program until she passed. She is survived by her nephew; Dave Bosson and wife Sherry; of Napa; Calif.; and their children; Lauri Heely; Jule’ Bosson Gunn; Janine West Bosson; Paul David Bosson and Adam A. Mucci; and her nephew; Don Bosson and wife Janice; of South Lake Tahoe; Calif.; and their sons; David A. Bosson and Ryan West Bosson. Betty was pre-deceased by her father; V. Wayne West; and her mother; Mary West; a sister; Margie Bosson; and a niece; Deborah West Popovich. Her family members give thanks for the lifelong inspiration she gave to each of us through her example. Though saddened by our loss; we celebrate her life and her beautiful strong spirit that lives on. We know Betty would love to be remembered with a smile.
