Betty (Elgin) Hags, 95, of Export, Mamont area, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 2, 2016, in William Penn Care Center, Jeannette. She was born Sept. 28, 1920, in Monessen, a daughter of the late John and Mary (Filipex) Elgin. Betty was a homemaker who enjoyed quilting, knitting, crafting, crocheting and embroidering. She was a longtime member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Delmont, having become a member March 19, 1967. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph W. Hags; and brother, Robert Elgin. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC., 463 Athena Drive, Delmont, 724-468-1177. Funeral services for Betty will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 301 E. Pittsburgh St., Delmont, with Pastor Kara Propst officiating. Everyone please meet at the church. Private interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
