Bessie E. Fretz of Dunlevy died Tuesday,Nov. 29,1988,at 8 a.m. in Monongahela Valley Hospital,Carroll Twp. She was 84. Mrs. FretZ was born May 6,1904,in Jeannette,a daughter of the late Otis and Margaret Altman Welsh. She was a member of the Charleroi Baptist Church and the WMU of the church. A Dunlevy resident the past 40 years,Mrs. Fretz had previously lived in Charleroi. She was also a member of the Goodwill Club of Charleroi. Mrs. Fretz was a former employee of Collins Department Store,the Wagner Tea Room and the JIB Restaurant,all in Charleroi,and the Jewel Tea Company. On June 29,1942,she married George Fretz,who died Feb. 4,1977. Mrs. Fretz was also preceded in death by her first husband,Emil Getz,and by three brothers and two sisters. Survivors include two daughters,Olive Bailey of Belle Vernon R.D.5 and Mrs. Clifford (Jean) Behrendt of Denver,Pa.;three grandchildren;seven great-grandchildren;a brother-in-law,Edgar Jones of Belle Vernon; a sister-in-law,Patricia Welsh of Mineral Springs,Pa.;two nephews,five nieces,and two cousins. Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where services will be held Thursday,Dec.1,at 11 a.m. with the Rev.Patrick Colladay,pastor of Charleroi Baptist Church,officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Ferguson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
