Obituary

Bertha E. Kissler, 86, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004 in Country Care Manor, Fayette City. A daughter of the late Phillip and Addie McGavitt Dougherty, she was born in Clairton on Aug. 5, 1918. Protestant by faith, she had lived most of her adult life in Belle Vernon. During World War II, she worked at the Clairton Plant of U.S. Steel and later was employed as a long distance operator for AT&T in Cleveland, Ohio. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, David L. and Linda E. Kissler of Lynnwood (Belle Vernon), a brother, Tom Dougherty of Terre Haute, Ind., three sisters, Helen Fullard of Belle Vernon, Betty Teska of Perryopolis and Elizabeth Willingham of Woodlake, Calif., and two grandchildren, Brian Kissler and wife Amy of North Versailles and Brea Kissler of Belle Vernon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh L. Kissler, on March 20, 1990, and a brother, Harry Doc Daugherty. Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC. and CREMATION SERVICE, a Golden Rule Member Firm, (724-929-5300), 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon. Funeral services will be in the funeral home on Monday, Nov. 29 at 11:30 a.m. with Bob Van Kirk officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
