Obituary

Bernard J. Chorba, 77, of Belle Vernon, Washington Township, died Thursday, April 29, 2010, at 8:12 a.m. at his home. Born Jan. 29, 1933, in Star Junction, he was the son of the late Rudolph and Elizabeth Bartko Chorba. A resident of Washington Township for the past 43 years, Mr. Chorba was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served with the U.S. Army. He was a retired pipefitter from U.S. Steel Clairton Works. He was a member of the Naomi Club, where he served as secretary, social member of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659, Fayette City American Legion Post 484, Russian Club of Pricedale, Fairhope and Allenport Rod and Gun Clubs, VFW, Monessen Elks Loom 773, and was an avid sports fan, golfer and hunter. His pride and joy was his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Kroskie Chorba, to whom he was married 47 years, two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Bill Teets Sr., of Carroll Township, Terrie and Robert Reeves, of Charleroi, three sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Cheryl Chorba, of Elizabeth, Brian and Laurie Chorba, of Jefferson Hills, Bernie and Deb Chorba, of Bethel Park, nine grandchildren, Bo, Bobby, Adam, Ryan, Courtney, Christopher, Tommy, Cassidy and Tyler, three great-grandchildren, Lyla, Carmen and John Ryan, and many dear relatives. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Rudolph and Emil Chorba, a sister, Mary Skvarna, and a great-granddaughter, Lucianna Theresa Reeves. Visitation will be held Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon 724-929-6183. Prayer service will be held Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home followed by funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. LAwrence L. Manchas, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Members of St. Sebastian parish will pray the rosary for the departed soul of Bernard Chorba Monday at 3 p.m. in the funeral home.
