Obituary

Bernadean F.Vance,86,of the Residence at Hilltop, Carroll Township, died Saturday, Aug. 21,1999, in Monongahela Valley Hospital, Carroll Township. Mrs. Vance was born Dec. 31, 1912, in Brownsville, the daughter of the late Andrew G. and Edith Stemberg Laird. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon and a former member of the Tuesday Evening Civic Club who lived most of her adult life in Belle Vernon. Along with her husband, the late James H. Vance, she was the owner of the former Vance Hardware Company of Belle Vernon. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, J. Sherman and Selma Russell of Belle Vernon, a brother, retired Col. Paul G. Laird of Trieste, Italy, a sister, Mrs. Maynard (Vivian) Jesick of Belle Vernon, three grandchildren, Neill Russell of Queenstown, Md., David Russell of Fallowfield Township and Gail Tobasco of Jefferson Hills, four great-grandchildren and one g r e a t - g r e a t - grandchild. Besides her parents and her husband, who died May 8,1985, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth A. Ferguson, who died July 17, 1976. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where Elders and Deacons will meet on Tuesday at 7:30 for a service. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev.Charles K.Sowden officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.is in charge of arrangements.
