Mrs. Vance was born Dec. 31;
1912; in Brownsville; the
daughter of the late Andrew G.
and Edith Stemberg Laird.
She was a member of the
First Presbyterian Church of
Belle Vernon and a former
member of the Tuesday Evening
Civic Club who lived most of
her adult life in Belle Vernon.
Along with her husband; the
late James H. Vance; she was
the owner of the former Vance
Hardware Company of Belle
Vernon.
She is survived by a son and
daughter-in-law; J. Sherman
and Selma Russell of Belle Vernon;
a brother; retired Col. Paul
G. Laird of Trieste; Italy; a sister;
Mrs. Maynard (Vivian) Jesick
of Belle Vernon; three
grandchildren; Neill Russell of
Queenstown; Md.; David Russell
of Fallowfield Township
and Gail Tobasco of Jefferson
Hills; four great-grandchildren
and one g r e a t – g r e a t –
grandchild.
Besides her parents and her
husband; who died May 8;1985;
she was preceded in death by a
sister; Ruth A. Ferguson; who
died July 17; 1976.
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.;700 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon;where Elders and Deacons will meet on Tuesday at 7:30 for a service. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev.Charles K.Sowden officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.is in charge of arrangements.
