Benjamin Harrison Mitchell,of 1238 Morgan avenue,Monessen,died Monday,March 11,1957 in the Charleroi-Monessen Hospital. A member of the Union Baptist Church and the board of deacons of the church,he was a member of Lodge 79,Free & Accepted Masons. An employee of the local Pittsburgh Steel Co. plant,for 35 years,he was a World War I veteran. Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife,Rosa;three daughters,Bennie Lee Lawson of Monessen,Odell Mitchell of Detroit and Willie Mae Hankins of Valdoresty,Ga.; six grandchildren; four brothers,Jake and Jim Mitchell,both of Georgia,Willis Mitchell of Connecticut and Sam Mitchell of Philadelphia and a sister,Mrs. Lessie Ponder,of Beaver Falls. Friends are being received at the Carter Funeral Home,645 McMahon avenue,Monessen,from 1 to 5 and from 7 to 10 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday,March 14,at 11 a.m. from the Union Baptist Church,with Rev. E.W.Jarrett officiating,assisted by Rev. Harrison Spencer. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. DuBoise Carter,funeral director.
