Benjamin F.Sayre;72;of 209 Louella Ave.;Charleroi;was dead on arrival at the Charleroi Division of Mon Valley Hospital Thursday morning;Jan.25.1973;at 10:25 a.m. He was rushed to the hospital after collapsing near 11th St.and Schoonmaker Ave.in Monessen. Born in West Virginia Sept.8;1900;he was a U.S.Army veteran of World War II and a member of Charleroi American Legion Post 22. He had lived in Monessen until last October when he moved to Charleroi. He retired from Westmoreland Equipment Co.in 1965. Surviving are his widow;Madeline Short Sayre;two sons;Charles of Webster and James;at home;one daughter;Mrs.George (Thelma) Edwards of Elizabeth;three grandchildren and one brother;Jess Sayre of Parkersburg;W.Va. Friends will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Edwin Melenyzer Funeral Home;Monessen;where services will be held Monday;Jan.29;at 10 a.m.with the Rev.Kennedy B.Stout;pastor of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Charleroi;in charge. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
