Obituary

Ben Thomas Frezzell,83,of 638 Marguerite St.,Monessen,was pronounced dead on arrival in the emergency room of Mon Valley Hospital on Saturday,April 15,1995,at 8:45 p.m. Mr. Frezzell was born Dec. 31,1911,in Springfield, Tenn.,a son of the late George Frezzell and Martha Bradley Frezzell.  He retired from the former Monessen plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation after 42 years of service.  Mr. Frezzell had been a resident of the Monessen area for the past 60 years,coming there from Springfield, Tenn. He was a member of the Union Baptist Church of Monessen,where he served on the Deacon Board and was a member of the Senior Gospel Chorus.  He was a former trustee of the church. Mr. Frezzell was a member of the United Steel Workers of America and the Mon Valley Association of Retired Steelworkers (MARS).  An avid sports fan,he was also a member of Prince Hall Masonic Lodge No. 79,F&AM,of Monessen.  His wife,Alma Elizabeth Northington Frezzell,died in February of 1994.  Four brothers and seven sisters are also deceased. Surviving are two sons, George Thomas Frezzell of Pontiac, Mich.,and James Richard Frezell of New York City, N.Y.;two daughters, Ida Belle Frezzell Minnie of Monessen and Suzanne Frezzell Neely of Rochester, N. Y., 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Union Baptist Church,670 McMahon Ave.,Monessen. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m.at the church with the Rev.James Edmunds,pastor,officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Masonic services will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m.in the church. The Percy E. Law Jr.Funeral Home,1324 Meldon Ave.,Donora,is handling arrangements.
