Obituary

Beatrix Trixie Welsh, 84, a long-time resident of North Belle Vernon, died Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005, in Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh following a brief illness. She was born Dec. 2, 1921, in Fayette City, a daughter of the late Kennedy Ewing and the late Blanche Nicholas Hough. She was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II, obtaining the rank of sergeant and serving as a radio operator at the U.S. Marine Corps station in Cherry Point, N.C. Mrs. Welsh was employed by West Penn Power Co. for 30 years prior to her retirement. She was a member of the Fayette City First Presbyterian Church. She is survived by a special niece and nephew, Grace and Ron Martin, of Fayette City, three sisters- in-law and one brother-in-law, Frances Hough, of Millbrook, Virginia Miller, of Fayette City, and Eleanor and Herbert Owens, of Belle Vernon (Fairhope). She was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Welsh Jr., three brothers, David, Negley and Herbert Hough, and four sisters, Ruth Owens, Florence Massay, Phyllis Croushore and Helen Lear. Friends will be received in the ELEY-McCRORY FUNERAL HOME INC., 334 Main St., Fayette City, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, Dec. 15, until 11 a.m., the hour of service with the Rev. Michael Shepard officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
