Beatrix Trixie Welsh; 84; a long-time resident of North Belle Vernon; died Saturday; Dec. 10; 2005; in Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh following a brief illness. She was born Dec. 2; 1921; in Fayette City; a daughter of the late Kennedy Ewing and the late Blanche Nicholas Hough. She was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II; obtaining the rank of sergeant and serving as a radio operator at the U.S. Marine Corps station in Cherry Point; N.C. Mrs. Welsh was employed by West Penn Power Co. for 30 years prior to her retirement. She was a member of the Fayette City First Presbyterian Church. She is survived by a special niece and nephew; Grace and Ron Martin; of Fayette City; three sisters- in-law and one brother-in-law; Frances Hough; of Millbrook; Virginia Miller; of Fayette City; and Eleanor and Herbert Owens; of Belle Vernon (Fairhope). She was preceded in death by her husband; James B. Welsh Jr.; three brothers; David; Negley and Herbert Hough; and four sisters; Ruth Owens; Florence Massay; Phyllis Croushore and Helen Lear. Friends will be received in the ELEY-McCRORY FUNERAL HOME INC.; 334 Main St.; Fayette City; on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday; Dec. 15; until 11 a.m.; the hour of service with the Rev. Michael Shepard officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
