Obituary

Very peacefully, Beatrice Macer, 91, of Monessen, died Wednesday, May 15, 2002, in Jefferson Hospital. She was born Oct. 27, 1910, in Carnegie, a daughter of the late Zell Burleigh and Jennie Thompson Burleigh. Methodist by faith, Mrs. Macer was a member of Wayman A.M.E. Church in Monessen, where she was an active member of the Virginia Boyers Missionary Society until her illness. She is survived by one brother, Elmer Burleigh of Miramar, Fla., who is a retired captain of the U.S. Air Force Medical Service, one niece, Bernadine Turner, formerly of Monessen, one nephew, Donald Macer of Monessen, two great-nieces, Cheri Stokes and Cheryl Atwood, both of Pittsburgh, one great-nephew, Barron Turner, one great-great-niece, Christina Thomas, one great-great-nephew, Brian Lee, one great-great-great-nephew, Brandon Lee, and two great-great-great-nieces, Brandi Lee and Mia Thomas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Obed Macer, in 1971, one niece, Dorothy Richardson, and one great-nephew, Calvin Winfield Richardson. Visitation will be held Saturday, May 18, from 9 to 11 a.m. in the WILLIAM R. TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME chapel, 645 McMahon Ave., Monessen. Services will be at 11 a.m., following visitation. The Rev. Sylvia J. King, pastor of Wayman A.M.E. Church, will officiate. Private interment will be at Belle Vernon Cemetery. Trudy Taylor-Bristol, funeral director, is in charge of arrangements.
