Obituary

Basil William Hussar, 82, formerly of Belle Vernon, died Thursday, March 7, 1996, at 8:50 a.m. in the James E. Van Zant VA Medical Center, Altoona. He was born May 11,1914, in Monessen, a son of the late Frank and Katherine Dutka Hussar. Mr. Hussar was a resident of the Belle Vernon area for the past 52 years and had retired from Page Wire and Steel plant in Monessen, where he worked in the galvanizing department. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of American Legion Post 659 of Belle Vernon and until his illness, was a member of various social and fraternal organizations. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Vernon and Eileen Hussar of Perryopolis, four brothers, John Hussar of Monessen, Michael Hussar and Frank Hussar, both of Belle Vernon and Edward Hussar of Fayette City, two sisters, Mrs. Al (Marge) Kiski of Ellsworth and Ann Regal of Belle Vernon, and two grandchildren, Vernon and Keith Hussar of Belle Vernon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth (Betty) Hussar on April 4, 1984, a son, Victor, who died June 28, 1986, two brothers, George and John, and five sisters, Ann Hussar, Mary Trembush, Sue Chunko, Katherine Prokopovitch and Helen Magatz. Friends will be received in the Stephen D. Yoney Jr. Funeral Home, First Street and Schoonmaker Avenue, Monessen, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m.in the funeral home with the Rev.Conrad Auel,pastor of the First christian Church,Monessen,officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery,Belle Vernon. the Stephen D.Yoney Jr.Funeral home is in charge of the arrangements.
