Obituary

Barbara Plevel Sendek,88,of North Belle Vernon,died Saturday,June 20,1998,at 5:50 p.m. in Mon Valley Hospital,Carroll Township.  Born Feb. 23,1910,in Escanaba,Mich.,she was a daughter of the late Michael and Luba Kobasic Plevel.  She was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church,Belle Vernon. A charter member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas Belle Vernon Court 1522, Mrs. Sendek was a member of Belle Vernon Goldenagers and Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. Formerly of Monessen and North Charleroi,she had resided in North Belle Vernon since 1950.  Mrs. Sendek retired in 1975 with over 15 years of service as a cook at Belle Vernon Area High School. In addition to her parents,she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew C. Sendek,in 1955;a son, Andrew Carl Sendek in 1966;one sister, Katherine Chacko and four brothers, Martin,Steve,Nick and Joseph Plevel. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law,Leonard and Debbie Sendek of Groveport, Ohio;a brother, Frank Plevel of Rostraver Township;two sisters, Ann Husovitz of Belle Vernon and Marge Dayner of Cortland,Ohio and one grandson,Drew Sendek. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.  Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where a Prayer service will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.,followed by Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Sebastian R.C.Church,Belle Vernon.  Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. If friends wish, memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia Society of America,Western Pennsylvania Chapter,2 Gateway Center, Pittsburgh,Pa.15222. The Ferguson Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
