Obituary

A former Monessen woman,Mrs.Avis Syler Evans,63,of 229 Chalfant St.,Beltzhoover,Pa.,died suddenly in Mercy Hospital,Pittsburgh,Monday,July 19,1965,at 4:15 p.m. Mrs.Evans was a member of Beulah Baptist Church of Beltzhoover,Usher Board,Gospel Chorus and Senior Missionary Society,all of the church,Duo Deciom Social Club at Beltzhoover and the Beltzhoover Women's Arts and Crafts Club. Surviving are her husband,Barron Evans,a daughter,Mrs.Audrey Syler Jackson of Pittsburgh,four sisters,Mrs.Lela Kincheilo,Mrs.Myrtle S.Russell,Mrs.Wilma Knight and Mrs.Hazel Hambrick,all of Nashville,Tenn.,three brothers,Floyd Simmons of Belle Vernon,C.L.Simmons and Connie Simmons,both of Nashville,many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at Beulah Baptist Church in Beltzhoover from 3 to 11 p.m.July 21. The remains will then be brought to Union Baptist Church,Monessen,for viewing Thursday,July 22,from 9 a.m.until time of service there the same day at 1 p.m. Officiating will the Rev.Walter W.Johnson,pastor of Union Baptist Church,assisted by the Rev.Philip Greene and the Rev.D.D.Chatman. Interment,Belle Vernon Cemetery. DuBoise H.Carter of Monessen,funeral director.
