Obituary

August A.(Gus)Paytas,91,of Westmoreland Manor,Greensburg,formerly of Monessen,died Tuesday,Feb.11,1992,in Westmoreland Manor,Greensburg,following a lengthy illness. Mr.Paytas was born March 22,1900,in Gallitin,Allegheny County,a son of the late Clement and Johanna Brutusky Paytas. He retired in 1962 as a foreman at the former Page Division of American Chain and Cable Company in Monessen. Mr.Paytas had been a resident of Monessen for 71 years. He was a member of the former Most Holy Name of Jesus Roman Catholic Church,Monessen,and the Monongahela Valley Association of Retired Steelworkers (MARS). In addition to his parents,Mr.Paytas was also preceded in death by his wife,Margaret Tesack Paytas,by one son,August R.Paytas,by one grandson,Duane Doty,and by one sister,Violet Piper. Surviving are two daughters,Mrs.Dorothy Doty of Monessen and Mrs.Michael (Margaret) McDonald of Montclair,Calif.,one granddaughter,Mrs.Charles (Lenny) Urbanowicz of Monessen,four grandsons,Robert Doty of Greensburg,Ronald Dudeck and Gary Paytas,both in the state of California,and John Paytas in Colorado,and nine great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.in the Rhome Funeral Home,Inc.,1209 Grand Blvd.,Monessen. Services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m.in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Rhome Funeral Home Inc.is in charge of arrangements.
