Obituary

Arthur Hazelbaker, 76, of Fayette City, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004 at his home with his family at his side. He was born Feb. 25, 1928 in Fayette City, a son of the late John and Mary Gartner Chicchiani. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Navy. Mr. Hazelbaker was a past commander of Brightwell-Daughtery American Legion Post 484 of Fayette City and former councilman for Fayette City Borough. He was retired from General Motors Company. Surviving are his wife, Mary McGill Hazelbaker, four sons and daughters-in-law, Arthur E. and Melanie Hazelbaker of Monessen, Gregg and Gretchen Hazelbaker of Fayette City, Edward and Lesa Hazelbaker of Stow, Ohio, and Daniel and Karen Hazelbaker of Fayette City, two daughters and one son-in-law, Arlene Hazelbaker Shannon of Stockdale and Linda and Dave Yuvan of Newell, two uncles and one aunt, Rudy Gartner of Belle Vernon, and George and Margurette Gartner of Stanton, Va., one brother and sister-in-law, John and Rose Chicchiani of Melvin Dale, Mich., one sister and brother-in-law, Marge and Angelo Leber of the state of California, 16 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hannah Eland Hazelbaker. Friends will be received in the ELEY-McCRORY FUNERAL HOME INC., 334 Main St., Fayette City on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Saturday, Oct. 2 until 10 a.m., the hour of service with Pastor Mitch Wall officiating.
