Obituary

Arthur H. Carney of Main street, Allenport,died Thursday, July 19,1951,at 10:15 p.m.  He was born February 11,1911 in Washington County.  He was a crane operator in Allenport mill of the Pittsburgh Steel Co.  Surviving are his wife, Beverly,one son, Arthur Brayton,both at home;four brothers, Brayton of Richeyville,Kenneth of California,Pierce of Cleveland,Ohio and Gerard of Allenport,one sister, Mrs. Ester Roberts and his mother, Mrs. May Carney both of Monongahela. Friends will be received at the late home.  Services will be held there Monday, July 23,1951,at 2 p.m.,in charge of Rev. Norman C. Young, pastor of Allenport Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  George M. McCrory and Son are the funeral directors         (Funeral services for Arthur H. Carney, 40, of Allenport, who died early Friday morning while making a night-time swim across the Monongahela River from Fayette City to his home, will be held today at 2 p.m. in the family residence. Burial will follow in the Belle Vernon Cemetery. Carney, whose body was found on the Allenport shore several hours after he said he would swim home from a visit with friends, is survived by his widow, Beverly; a son Arthur Brayton, 11; his mother, Mrs. Mary Carney, Monongahela; four brothers, Brayton, of Richeyville; Kenneth, of California; Gerard, of Allenport and Pierce of Cleveland and one sister Mrs. Ester Roberts, of Monongahela.)
