Arlene K. Gaul; 71; of Monessen; died Monday; Jan. 6; 2003; in Mon Valley Hospital. A daughter of the late Williard and Katherine Treadwell Burkett; she was born in Belle Vernon (Elks Place) June 7; 1931. Protestant by faith; she had resided in Monessen since 1966 and was formerly of Belle Vernon. Survivors include one daughter and son; Gloria Jean Freeman and James Gaul; both of Monongahela; three brothers; George H. Burkett of Belle Vernon; Daniel Burkett of Elizabeth; and Charles Ross Burkett of Dallas; Ga.; three grandchildren; Rodney Freeman of Monessen; Jason Bright of Monongahela; and James A. Gaul II of Monessen; one great-granddaughter; Elizabeth Paige Lazar of Finleyville; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC.; (724-929-5300) a Golden Rule Member Firm; 700 Broad Ave.; Belle Vernon. Funeral services will be in the funeral home on Friday; Jan. 10; at 10 a.m. with the Rev. James C. Ramsey; pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon; officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
